Reverse transcriptase
Is the enzyme used to generate Complimentary DNA
From an RNA template
This is used by viruses
To replicate their genome
The complimentary DNA
Produces a single strand of RNA
As the virus passes through the ribosomes
Reverse Transcriptase produces a reverse
And complimentary strand of itself
They combine and form a double helix
The enzyme integrase then allows
This viral DNA to stick to the host DNA
The enzyme protease then produces a copy
Of the virus
Which becomes a viral chimeric DNA
Viruses are created in a lab
And then transcribed or read
Into the host DNA!
