Coats of Armor worn by the so-called dashing knights were not to keep swords from striking flesh. They were meant to keep one from being electrocuted by hand held weaponry referred to as fasces. Each fasces were a bundle of conductive metal rods fastened together and they received a charge straight from the ether.
