The process that petrification of wood is suppose to involve burial underground and infiltration of water plus millions of years. But it has been shown that the metamorphosis of minerals can take place quickly under electrical voltage. If this transmutation of elements is electrically charged to an even greater extent could it produce harder stone such as basalt?
