Palmyra in Syria was once a flourishing city
It had temples palaces and amphitheaters that radiated with crystalline clarity
The temples and palaces were large multi storied structures
With elaborate decorations and extensive furnishings
There were an ample supply of precious frescoes and ornate carvings
The music of the amphitheaters resounded into a glorious harmony
The structures were built with megalithic stone and advanced engineering technology
The temple of Baal was a half mile in perimeter and was situated on a hill
Palmyra had exquisite arches and numerous columns that were arrayed in long avenues
It had abundant gardens and copious amounts of trees lining the streets
Especially palm trees
It was spectacular to behold
Palmyra had an underground system of tunnels that led to open areas
The buildings below ground were similar to the ones above ground
Now it is all in ruins
The melted appearance of the colossal stones gives away the reason for their demise
High energy weaponry brought the city to a swift end and its glory was destroyed
Since the early 1800s Palmyra has been plundered and ransacked
Its intricate and detailed statues have either been confiscated and hauled away or beheaded
Destruction of Palmyra is still taking place
And is being blamed on the fictitious group Isis
