Marduk says should he arise from his seat
The sky will shake and the government of heaven will be dissolved
The stations of the planetary gods will be altered
And I will not bring them back to their former positions
The subject of the poem is Erras attack upon Suanna
Suanna is the heavenly kingdom of Marduk
The insurrection of Erra makes Marduk abdicate his throne
And the world is temporarily thrown into darkness
Erra quenches the glory of the beams in the heavenly kingdom
And makes Marduk dwell in the underworld
Mars in ancient times was known as the erratic star and the fiery star Pyroeis
He was the star of rebellion known in the Old Testament as Lucifer
